Canal Barge Group Bookings

The Horse-drawn barge and Canal Country Park makes a great day out for a wide variety of groups, Clubs, Associations and Societies.

Our Horse-drawn Barge, "Tivertonian", upholds the nostalgia of yester-year, and is one of only a few remaining in England today. Since 1974 Tivertonian has been available for Group Visits, for either Private Hire or to reserve group seats aboard public daytime trips. These depart from Tiverton Wharf, and are available to groups booking 15-75 people.

Group Trips

Minimum Numbers for Group Rates.

1. On a Scheduled Public Trip: 15+ Adults required - see Timetable for dates operating (shared rates applicable)
2. For Non-Scheduled Public Trips: 25+ Adults required - these trips operate outside the advertised Public trip schedule (see Timetable) available from May to September and Sundays in April & October (shared rates applicable)
3. For Exclusive Private Hire Trips: A minimum hire rate is set on 35 Adult rate for length of trip required. Available for day or evening except when public trips operate (see Timetable for times NOT available). Why not light up the Canal banks on a magical Floodlit Evening Trip with a buffet on board? Something special for the darker months. Or have an evening with live Music aboard? In all cases standard fare would apply where minimum numbers are not achieved.

We can offer a variety of trips and discounts for group bookings, together with special celebrations and corporate events for which the barge can be hired privately.

Exclusive Private Hire: Minimum hire is based on a thirty-five adults sharing and is available for day or evenings outside our Public Trip schedule. As the Barge is entirely for your group, we are able to be more flexible towards your requirements. Evening trips can be especially enjoyable for those extra special sociable events with bar and buffet aboard. When evenings draw in, live music or a disco is available, or may be you would prefer a floodlit journey, providing a unique and peaceful atmosphere, and something unusual to remember.

Groups on Shared Trips: Discounts start at fifteen Adults on a Public trip, or twenty-five Adults on any other daytime excursion between Easter and October. Where the group falls below the minimum numbers, the standard fare will apply.

Food on Board: Should your group require food during the trip, a `Package' price is available. A selection of Cream Teas, light Lunches and Buffets are detailed in our selected Menu .A full Price list is available on request.
